St Patrick's Cross Country 2016
Thankyou to all the mums and dads that came along on Friday the 19th August to support our School's Cross Country.
I was very impressed with the standard shown by all participants out on the course on Friday. Of particular note was the performance of our Year 7&8 students who are now preparing for the Catholic Schools Cross Country this week. We also have a smaller group attending the Nationals AIMS Cross Country event on the 4th September. I can see for some students the hours of preparation that is happening as they prepare for these events.
The team who will be representing us on Wednesday at the Catholic Interschools Cross Country will be named on Monday. A newsletter with an enclosed permission slip will be sent out. This will need to be returned on Tuesday.
I would like to wish this team all the very best for Wednesday.
NIWA Waikato Science Fair 2016
We have just received the exciting news that two of our students will be attending the NIWA Waikato Science Fair Prizegiving on Tuesday 23rd August at the PWC building at the Waikato University.
Congratulations to Natasha Linton and Christine Lee we are all immensely proud of your fine achievement.
Speed Management Project
Last Friday we had a small delegation of students fly down to Wellington with Mrs Russ to present their Speed Project Inquiry Assignment to Councillors and Transport Officials. This work has been a focus of learning for Room 10 which has involved investigating, collecting, collating and summarizing their data around some of the transport issues around Rewi and Alexander Street. We look forward to Mrs Russ posting the outcomes of this inquiry on this page so you can see the impressive work that has been completed by these students.
Waikato GymSports Competition
Well done to our cheerleaders who placed second at the recent Waikato Gymsports Competition. I am sure this result will help to build the confidence needed as they now prepare for the AIMS Games in a couple of weeks.

The Great Things Happening in Team 3
Teaching and Learning in Team 3
ALiM 2 Parents Report
Please find below the link to the ALiM 2 Parents Evening Powerpoint.
What the powerpoint highlights is the fantastic results the teachers and students were able to achieve over the time span of only 10 weeks.
This is a testament to a whole lot of hard work put in by teachers and students to illustrate how learning can be accelerated when funding, resourcing, time allowance and quality teaching is implemented.
The challenge for our team now is to look at how we can sustain this good progress and continue to support our learners across the different age levels.
Enjoy the fantastic results below.

Mary MacKillop Programme
I have just received back the design template from Emblems NZ for our Mary MacKillop Leadership Programme.
I am interested in any feedback from our parents before we sign off on this but I am really excited that we are closer to providing this opportunity for our students.

Principals Extension Class
We are now into our second term of providing our Extension Mathematics Class for our Year 7&8 students. It is not only special that our school principal is working with these students but also the expertise he provides in extending these students has been successful.
A small selected group of these students will be attending the Waimaths Quiz Night this week. We look forward to how these students perform.
Marcus Oxenham (Assistant Principal)
